The annual fiscal report of the State Liquor Control Board shows sales falling by about $110 million, but because of lower operating expenses during the pandemic shutdown, net income rose nine percent to a record $208.7 million.
Covering July 1st of last year through June 30th of this year, the report shows Indiana County with the 34th-highest sales in the state, at $7,917,427. That’s down 9.9 percent – $873,271 – from last fiscal year.
Among spirits, unflavored vodka was the most favored in Indiana County, as it was in 55 other the other 66 counties. Indiana County’s top seller in wines was red table wine.
The top-selling store in Indiana County was the Townfaire Plaza store, which ranked 116th in the state with sales of $5,147,762. The store on Philadelphia Street in Indiana ranked 500th; Blairsville ranked 520th; and Clymer ranked 600th among the state’s 614 stores.
The top sales day of the fiscal year was March 16th, two days before the pandemic shutdown. It was followed by the day before Thanksgiving, two days before Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and March 17th, the last day of sales before the shutdown.
