Three Indiana County companies submitted winning bids for a Federal Communications Commission auction to help expand broadband internet access across the state.
According to a news release, $14,153,233 will head to the three companies as part of $368 million in federal support to expand broadband to under-served areas over the next ten years. The winning bidders are Commnet Wireless, LLC at $291,526, Space Exploration Technologies Corporation at $1,454,209 and Windstream Services LLC-Debtor in Possession will receive $12,407,498. This is expected to help 5,911 locations in the area.
