State police have released more information on a fatal crash in Cherryhill Township Wednesday afternoon.
Troopers say the crash happened on Route 553 just east of Route 422 in a long curve in the road. A Honda Accord driven by 31-year-old Jeremy Dixon of Northern Cambria crossed the center line into the oncoming lane of traffic and hit the Hyundai Santa Fe driven by 34-year-old William Shroyer of Penn Run in the rear-driver’s side area. The Santa Fe spun and hit a tree while the Accord eventually stopped.
Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. said that 14-year-old Brittany Eileen Keith of Penn Run was killed in the crash. She was declared dead at Indiana Regional Medical Center. Cause and manner of death are pending. Shroyer and two other passengers, 30-year-old Melissa Shroyer of Penn Run and an unidentified man, were injured and taken to IRMC for treatment. Dixon was not hurt.
State police say that the crash is still under investigation. Cherryhill Fire Department and Citizens Ambulance assisted on the scene while Pine Township and Clymer Fire Departments helped set up landing zones on North Harmony Road.
