State police say they are investigating a fatal accident in Cherryhill Township last month as a criminal matter.
The December 23rd crash took the life of 14-year-old Brittany Eileen Keith of Penn Run, who was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 34-year-old William Shroyer of Penn Run. Shroyer swerved to try to avoid hitting a car driven by 31-year-old Jeremy Dixon of Northern Cambria, who had crossed the center line on Route 553 near the Route 422 intersection. The vehicles collided and Shroyer’s SUV left the road and hit a tree.
Keith was treated at the scene and taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Shroyer and a male juvenile were seriously injured, and 30-year-old Melissa Shoryer, a front-seat passenger, suffered minor injuries. Dixon was not hurt.
Today’s police report does not indicate that charges have been filed and the case is not listed in any magisterial district court. The investigation is termed an “assault with serious bodily injury”.
