“Frustrated” was the word most in use by Steelers players yesterday as they gathered for the first workout of the week after Monday’s win over Cleveland. The Steelers’ offense is ranked next to last in the NFL in total yardage and has been stuck in low gear.
One of those struggling offensive players is quarterback Kenny Pickett, who says they have to get better.
Pickett says he still ahs great confidence in the offense.
A number of players missed practice yesterday, including safety Minkah Fitzpatrick with a chest injury, safety Damontae Kazee (calf), linebacker Markus Golden (knee), tight end Darnell Washington (knee), wide receiver Gunner Olszewski (concussion), and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi (foot). Guard Isaac Seumalo and cornerback Patrick Peterson were given the day off but neither is injured.
Linebacker Alex Highsmith is the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Browns. He had a pick six interception, forced the fumble that was returned for a touchdown by TJ Watt, and had a hand in seven tackles, one for a loss, along with a quarterback hit.
The Steelers have signed defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko from the practice squad to the active roster and have signed running back Godwin Igwebuike off the Falcons’ practice squad.
