It took Joe Musgrove 112 pitches to seal the MLB’s first no-hitter of the season as he helped the Padres beat the Texas Rangers, 3-0, at Globe Life Field.
The former Pirate hurler and San Diego native clinched the Padres’ first no-hitter in franchise history after retiring outfielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa on a ground-out to short. The last instance of a pitcher clinching a team’s first no-hitter was Johan Santana in 2012 with the New York Mets.
Musgrove is scheduled to pitch against the Pirates on April 14.
