Jake Guentzel led the way with a three-goal night to help the Penguins win, 5-2, earning them a series sweep over the New Jersey Devils.
Colton Sceviour, who the Penguins waived on Saturday, kicked off the Penguins’ scoring with back-to-back goals in the first period, while Guentzel added his three in the second and third periods.
Sceviour said after the game that, while a hat trick would have been nice, he won’t scoff at two goals.
While Bryan Rust and Mike Matheson didn’t find the net offensively, they walked away from Sunday’s game with two assists each. Goalie Tristan Jarry made 28 saves on 30 attempts.
Sceviour’s goals tonight continued the success rate from Pittsburgh’s young players, and head coach Mike Sullivan said that their efficiency speaks volumes.
The Pens are now 27-13-2 on the season. They return to the ice on Thursday to face the Philadelphia Flyers.
