James A. Hill, 73 of Blairsville, PA, passed away and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at his home, surrounded by loving family after a recent battle with cancer. Jim was born November 15, 1950 in Indiana, PA, the son of the late Vernon Hill and Edna (Rager) Hill.
He was a 1968 graduate of Blairsville High School and member of Connect Church. Throughout his life he had various occupations, interests and many friends. He worked as a coal miner, on a Christmas tree farm, glass factory and machine shop. His favorite job was his farm…milking cows, planting crops, making hay, watching deer and eagles, mowing the yard and keeping the farm looking immaculate. He loved going to local fairs, horse shows, working with the riding and draft horses, coon hunting, his many farm dogs, Sparky the “ground hog dog” being his favorite, milk shakes, sweets, chewing snuff, visiting neighbors and spending time with Abby, his best buddy.
Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley (Darr) Hill, Blairsville, PA; sister, Shirley Stewart & husband, Gene Cenis, Blairsville, PA; sister-in-law, Gerry Koller & fiance’, Jim Henry, Indiana, PA; sister-in-law, Beth Cornell, Gettsyburg, PA; brother-in-law, Ken Kwisnek, Greensburg, PA; brother-in-law, Joe Kwisnek & wife, Nancy, Blairsville, PA; special niece, Abby Montague & husband, Drew, Windber, PA; step-daughter, Michelle Jennings & husband, Bill, Indiana, PA; step-son, Dan Darr & wife, Sarah, WA and many Nieces, Nephews, Step-grandchildren & Step-great grandson.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Charlotte (Kwisnek) Hill and brothers-in-law, Ron Stewart, Jim Cornell & William (Beager) Kwisnek
A private service will be held on Saturday. Interment will be held in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, Pennsylvania. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society- Western Region, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205 or a charity of your choice.
