At last night’s Indiana Borough Council work session, council approved plans for solar power to come to the borough’s Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The borough approved a two-phase plan from EIS Solar out of Pittsburgh. According to Amelia Eggan, senior program manager with PA Solar, the project will help stabilize Indiana Borough’s electric bill.
Approval is contingent on securing PennVEST funds. Phase one could occur by the end of this year or early 2025.
In other business, the council approved rescinding acceptance of a bid from Mashan Inc. for $1,294,000 for electrical work on the municipal building project, and accepted the bid from Mashan for $575,000. This was due to a clerical error that was not caught until after the bid was accepted.
