CRIMINAL TRESPASS
A Shelocta man is facing charges of criminal trespass and simple assault for an incident that happened last Friday in Indiana Borough.
Indiana Borough Police were dispatched around 7:18 a.m. to reports of an assault that happened at a home along the 200-block of Church St., and when they arrived, they found that 32-year-old Dustin Kelm had entered the home through the kitchen window and assaulted a man and woman in the second story.
Police add that Kelm repeatedly punched and pepper sprayed the man and indirectly sprayed the woman. Kelm was taken to Indiana County Jail and was arraigned before Judge Susanne Steffee, who set a cash bail of $25,000.
FRAUDULENT CALLS
Indiana Borough Police also warn the public of fraudulent phone calls that are being made around the borough.
In a news release, officers say that a man, going by “Sergeant Snyder”, made phone calls to residents, citing publicly available contact information to make himself sound more credible. Officers have not determined an exact motive for these calls, but they remind residents that Indiana Borough Patrol Officers are dressed in full uniforms and operate clearly-marked patrol car and they can check the on-duty status of officers by calling the Indiana County 911 24/7 center at 724-349-1428.
Lastly, any contact from “Sgt. Snyder of the Indiana Borough Police Department” should be reported immediately.
