Prior to the start of tonight’s Indiana Borough Council Meeting, there will be a special public hearing concerning the borough’s 2021 proposed CDBG entitlement funds.
The hearing will start at 6:30 and the purpose will be to discuss the CDBG Program in general, the needs of Indiana Borough, the performance of Indiana County acting on the borough’s behalf under the previously funded program years, and discuss the required Three-Year Community Development Plan for the borough. The borough is expected to receive $201,286 in CDBG funds. At least 70 percent of the money must be used for activities that benefit low-to-middle income citizens, with the proposed activities benefiting at least 51 percent of people in that population group in the service area for the project to qualify. Some of the activities include water and sewer line improvement and replacement, housing rehabilitation, building affordable housing, construction and reconstruction of public facilities, recreational facilities and others.
Everyone who attends will be given the chance to speak on the record at the hearing. The borough will also accept written comment by sending their comments and proposals to the Indiana County Office of Planning and Development at 801 Water Street in Indiana or sending them an email to admin1@ceo.co.indiana.pa.us. Deadline is July 20th at 3:00 PM.
