Indiana County Vietnam Veterans were honored today with a ceremony at Blue Spruce Park.

The ceremony was put together by the offices of U.S. Senator Pat Toomey, State Senator Joe Pittman and State Representative Jim Struzzi. During his comments, Colonel Robert DeSousa, the state director for Toomey’s offices, said he remembered when he went to serve in Iraq, and how well they were treated before they were shipped overseas, even at a refueling stop in Maine.
56 Veterans received a special pin, along with a certificate of recognition, and the thanks of county, state and federal officials.

Ron McNutt of Shelocta said that it was a great honor to receive the recognition.
DeSousa said that over 9,000 “pinnings” have taken place across the state.
