The Indiana County Commissioners at their meeting this (Wednesday) morning approved not certifying any county funds for farmland preservation for now.
Indiana County Commissioners Chairman Mike Baker said that those funds came from Act 13 funding that the county receives from gas and oil well impact fees. Baker said there may be an opportunity later this year to certify some funds, once they have a clearer look at how much Act 13 funding they will receive.
In other business, the Commissioners through Solicitor Mike Clark have filed a response to a complaint from the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. The complaint is in regard to the railroad crossing at Oakland Avenue. While the individual who filed the complaint with the PUC did not name the county, the county’s name was added along with the borough and PennDOT. Baker said the response basically notifies the PUC that the county has no ownership of that portion of the road, and should not be named in the complaint.
The next commissioners meeting will be January 18th.
