A former broadcaster in Indiana and in Punxsutawney, passed away over the weekend.
Chris Lash passed away in Nashville after a lengthy bout with sepsis that came from a recent infection. Lash started his career working for a Christian radio station in Union City, PA at the age of 13, and while in college, he programmed stations in Erie; Buffalo, NY and in Pittsburgh. In the 1990s, Chris was the manager at WPXZ in Punxsutawney, and was also a member of the Groundhog Club Inner Circle, the organizers of the annual Groundhog Day event. One of his duties was to organize and help put on the stage entertainment for Groundhog Day, and was also a part of the filming of the movie “Groundhog Day”.
After owning a station in Ebensburg from 1996 to 1998, Lash would return to Indiana to be an on-air talent and sales rep for WDAD and WQMU until he decided to start his own Christian Station in Indiana in 2003. Recently, he was the owner of two radio stations under the Whiplash banner in Nashville, Tennessee, and a Red Dirt Country Music video channel called Stars Over Texas in July of this year.
Of his many interests Lash was involved in local professional wrestling, helping to found the original Allied Powers Wrestling Federation.
