The proposed elementary school projects in the Indiana School District were the main topic of discussion at a meeting of the Indiana County Planning Commission.
The plan presented was the same one presented by the School District to the White Township Planning Commission Tuesday night. Byron Stauffer said that the submission of the plans is a regulation under the municipalities planning code. A school district making substantial changes to buildings would have to file at least 45 days ahead of making any formal action.
Stauffer said the plan in its current form would go against one of the statements in the comprehensive plan. One of the statements said that the plan was committed to keeping neighborhood schools intact. While Stauffer said that the Indiana School District’s plan was counter to that, there were still other points to consider.
The plan was tabled so that further discussion could be held at their next meeting in early February.
