Budget discussions have already started for the Penns Manor School Board.
The board last night approved a statement saying they would not raise taxes above the state-mandated Act 1 Tax index for the 2017-2018 year. This year, the index calculated by the state for Penns Manor was 3.7%
In other business, the board approved some repairs to take place at the schools. One repair job is for some water lines in the Elementary Cafeteria. A 2 and a half inch copper water line and a three-quarter-inch water line that lead to the dishwasher sprang leaks and will need repaired. The other repair will be for the outside entrance doors to the Vo-Ag Department. Those doors were damaged in an accident involving an outside company.
The board also adjusted the school year calendar. It will change January 26th and March 31st to early dismissal days for teacher in-service.
