After the sales at national retailers on Black Friday, today is the day when many shoppers focus on the mom and pop stores with “Small Business Saturday”, and Downtown Indiana, Inc. is ready to help promote local businesses.
Shoppers are encouraged to head to any of the 23 businesses taking part in the promotion and for every $10 you spend with the business, customers will receive one dollar back in “Downtown Dollars”. Those can be used for future purchases at the participating businesses through the month of December.

Also in Downtown Indiana today is the ongoing “It’s A Wonderful Life Festival”, with activities in IRMC Park throughout the day, and children will have the chance to visit with Santa Claus from Noon to 5:00 PM today. There’s also the Downtown Indiana Christmas Tree Decorating contest going on at the Atrium , where several groups have decorated trees. Attendees can vote on their favorite today from 8-5.
And finally, this weekend, free parking is being offered in the 500, 600 and 700 blocks of Philadelphia Street courtesy of First Commonwealth Bank.
