An Arcadia man pleaded guilty to a charge of third-degree murder in the shooting death of a room-mate of his at their home in Montgomery Township.
The plea was entered by 63-year-old David Yingling this morning in a session of Plea Court at the Indiana County Courthouse. He was charged with murder in the death of 50-year-old Elwood Skillings last May. State Police were called by an off-duty Cherry Tree police officer who was told by a woman that a murder may have occurred at the house Yingling and Skillings shared on Arcadia Road. Police found the body in the bed and it had been lying there for four days. Yingling admitted to state police that he killed Skillings because he kept bullying his mentally-challenged younger brother, who lived with the two of them. Yingling also said he didn’t move the body out of the bed because he didn’t know what to do with it.
Yingling will be sentenced on April 3rd, and could face at the most 40 years in prison and a maximum fine of $25,000.
