The Penguins have signed Sebastian Aho, but not the Carolina Hurricanes’ star center. This Sebastian Aho is the former New York Islanders defenseman. He’s spent his entire five-year NHL career with the Islanders. He had two goals and seven assists and was a minus-7 for the Isles last season. It’s a two-year contract.
Free agent defenseman P.O. Joseph has left the Penguins to sign with the St. Louis Blues. Another free agent, forward Jansen Harkins, has signed with the Anaheim Ducks.
The Pens’ 2024-25 schedule was released yesterday. After opening the season at home on October 9th against the New York Rangers, they will play their next three games on the road, at Detroit, Toronto, and Montreal. Ten of the Penguins’ first 16 games are away games.
There are 14 sets of back-to-back games on the schedule, and yes, the traditional night-before-Thanksgiving game at PPG Paints Arena is back, this time against the Vancouver Canucks.
The schedule also includes a 12-day break while the NHL has its “4 Nations Face-Off” round-robin tournament with All-Star teams from the U.S., Canada, Finland, and Sweden, February 9th through the 21st.
