Blairsville Borough Police have arrested and charged one person with charges related to illegally carrying firearms and drugs.
Officers say they conducted a traffic stop on 48-year-old Walter Zylo of Derry shortly after 10 PM on Friday near Route 22 and Dixon Street after noticing a broken brake light on his car. During the incident, Zylo granted them permission to search his car and officers reportedly found firearms, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. They also discovered Zylo was a convicted felon and did not possess a firearms permit.
Zylo was arrested and charged with illegally carrying firearms, carrying them without a license, possession of a controlled substance and of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license, and a summary vehicle code violation. He was arraigned before District Judge Tony Sottile and placed in Indiana County Jail on $5,000 bond.
