Blairsville 7, Homer-Center 5
The Blairsville Bobcats handed the Homer-Center Wildcats their first loss and Ryan Shirley picked up his 20th career high school pitching win, as Blairsville defeated Homer-Center, 7-5, Wednesday afternoon at First Commonwealth Bank Field.
Shirley pitched 5 1/3 innings, struck out five batters and walked one. Dakota Sunday picked up the save. Dakota Sunday hit a double and two singles. Adam Ratkus and CJ Ingmire also had two singles. Shirley was on base four times with a RBI single and three walks.
Canyon Rankin and Jayke Saiani led Homer-Center with three hits each.
Homer-Center (3-1) visits two teams on Thursday, Marion Center at noon and Purchase Line at 4 pm, while Blairsville (5-1) plays host to West Shamokin on Monday.
Dakota Sunday is thrown out at the plate in the third inning. Catcher Tim Alcon applies the tag.
