Why do you do what you do?
“To serve the community and help family members possibly get another day with their loved ones. To be “a bright light in someone’s darkest day.”
What or who influenced you to get into public service?
“I started in The Creekside Ladies Auxiliary in 2009. After spending time at the fire department, I wondered what it would be like to be a firefighter. From there, I fell in love with public service. I got my EMT certification. During EMT class, we had the opportunity to look at the lifeflight helicopter that sits at IRMC. From that moment I was like this is what I want to do with the rest of my life. Then I started to pursue the dream of being a flight nurse.”
What has developed recently in your public service career and what is the significance of it?
“I recently became a flight nurse in July of 2023. This has been my dream for so long. It is amazing to look back at all of the certifications and everything that it took me to get to this point. I remember when I started nursing school and was like I can not wait for the day I become a flight nurse. Now here I am and it still seems so unreal. I feel like this is the greatest possible thing I could have accomplished in my life.”
