Terry Gardner, January 2024
Terry is a full-time Indiana County 911 Dispatcher and serves as Chief of the Homer City Volunteer Fire Department.
Terry started when he was 15 years old out in Cherryhill Twp moved to Homer City and joined the department there in 2006, worked his way from regular fireman to now the Chief for the last 9 years. Terry has been an EMT for 12 years and the HC fire department has been running medical calls with their QRs for around 10 years now.
Terry became a first responder because of his father was at one time a member and he would go with him to the fire station. Terry has been doing this for around 34 years of his life and he still gets enjoyment out of helping others when they need it.
One of the most challenging things for Terry the whole way through has been the shortage of man power.
Terry’s full time job is a dispatcher for 911, which he has been doing approximately 4 and half years, and his experience in firefighting helps him with dealing with callers and being able to calm them down.
